Having a perfect audio volume is vital if you want to have a great video. Excellent audio quality will make your video easier to catch the audience’s attention but sometimes, even when you take measures when recording, it’s likely your audio won’t be as good as you wish.

Luckily for you, in today’s tutorial, I’m going to teach you how to change video volume in Windows, so you can make sure your video has perfect audio before uploading or sharing it.

How to Edit Your Audio & Change Volume

In this part, we’ll show you how to edit audio track in the video in 4 sections: how to change the volume of music, how to trim audio, how to split music, and how to duplicate the audio track.

1. How to Change the Volume of Music

Changing the volume is by far the easiest part of this tutorial, that’s because FilmForth has a tool called ‘Volume’ which lets you edit the video volume.

You have two options here. If you want to edit the audio volume of the video itself, then you need to select the video and click on ‘Volume’.

Otherwise, you can also edit the audio volume you just added by doing the same (selecting it and going to the Volume tab).

Once you’re there, play with the settings to see how much percentage you should give to the video volume.

You can also give it a fade-in and fade-out effect to the audio, so give that a try too!

2. How to Trim Audio

As you’ve probably realized by now, trimming audio is also very simple in FilmForth video editor!

Since this is something we just did in the tutorial, I won’t go into many details here, as I don’t want to waste too much of your time.

Just remember, simply select the audio file you wish to trim and click on ‘Trim’ (inside the audio tab). Once you’re there, just play with it and see what configuration works best for your video.

Don’t forget that you can trim where the audio file starts and ends.

3. How to Split Music

To split audio files, you need to position where you want to make the split and then click on ‘Split’ as shown below.

As you can see, splitting is a really straightforward process too.

But you can also use splitting to introduce a new song. You can use the split tool to keep just a part of the song and insert another song for the next part of the video.

Let me show you how… first, once the song is split, select the part of the split song you wish to replace, and click on the trash icon.

Once you’ve deleted that sound file, add a new one by going into ‘Add Audio’.

And that’s it! Now you know how to have two different soundtracks playing over the same video.

Plus, by going into ‘Volume’, you can add fade in and fade out for both tracks to make the transition from one song to the next flawless.

4. How to Duplicate Audio Track

Finally, if you want to duplicate an audio track, select it and click on ‘Duplicate’.

That’s it! Now your video editor timeline should have the same track two times. As you can see, working with audio on FilmForth is really easy!

In fact, that’s why I decided to create this app. I wanted to give people a video editor that was simple to use, while being watermark-free (like Windows Movie Maker used to be).

So, why don’t you give FilmForth a try? I’m sure you’ll like it.

How to Add Music to a Video in 5 Steps

Below is the guide on how to add music to a video easily. What if your video doesn’t have audio, or you want to replace the one it already has? Well, in that case, you can also add music or audio to your video, and that’s something I’m going to teach you too! So, let’s start to Add Music to Your Video.

Step 1: Pick Your Video Editor

For this tutorial, we’re going to be using FilmForth, a free video editor that is really simple to use. Plus it’s a watermark-free tool, which means your end video won’t have any annoying watermarks when trying to watch it.

You can get FilmForth from the Microsoft store by clicking below.

Take into account that Windows will handle the download and installation, and it should take less than 5 minutes!

Step 2: Open Your Video File

Once the installation process is finished, you’ll need to open your video file in the video editor. To do so, you can simply right-click on the file you want to add music to, and ‘Open with’ > ‘FilmForth’

Otherwise, you can create a new project on the editor and add the file from there. To do so, open FilmForth and click on ‘New Project’ as shown below.

Step 3: Mute or Remove Audio

If the video file you added has some audio, you’ll need to mute it in order to add music. Otherwise, the two different audio tracks would mix, and the process would be far from ideal.

To do so, select the video clip you wish on which you want to change the volume, and then click on ‘Edit’. Then, you will see the toolbar which contains a volume slider to mute the video by going from 100% to 0 as shown below.

That’s it. Now you can add the music or audio you wish to your video.

Step 4: Add Your New Sound Files

Now that your video doesn’t have any sound, you’ll need to add the new sound files by going to the audio tab. To do so, go back to the start, then click on ‘Audio’ and click ‘Add Audio’.

There, you have two options. You can add suggested music, or import your own video files. You can tap on + to add a local audio file.

If you wish to add suggested music, simply go to the left of the window, hover over the song you want to add, and click on the ‘+’ symbol.

Step 5: Adjust the Audio to Fit Video

To give it the final touch, you’ll need to adjust the video volume. But first, let’s make sure the sound fits accordingly with the video.

FilmForth will automatically adjust the audio with the video length, meaning that if your video has a duration of 30 seconds, the audio track will have the same duration.

But what you can do is use the ‘Trim’ function to edit where the audio starts and where it ends.

So, start by selecting the audio track by clicking on it, and then click on ‘Trim’.

And then use your mouse to drag the start of the song where you want to. For example, if I want my song to start around 31 seconds, then I need to drag the ‘Start’ bar there, as shown below.

Perfect! Now, let’s use the video tools to edit the audio and change the video volume, so we can make sure the volume is perfect for your video.
