Video Editing Tips of FilmForth

No matter if you want to trim a video, change the playback speed of a video, or add effects to a video, FilmForth enables you to do these in simple clicks, and there are plenty more. And from this guide, you’ll learn how to do these all by yourself in seconds.

Choose New Project to add the video/photo clips to FilmForth or drag & drop your video into the timeline.

If you’ve already had a project saved, you can click the Open a Project button and load the existing project from your PC local storage.

The Recent Projects area shows your recently edited videos. You can simply click the thumbnail to open them and continue your editing.

After you add a new project, you will be entering the video-editing interface. The various video-editing features are shown at the bottom panel.

Add Media Clip

Click the Add Media Clip button on the left side. Then a window will pop up and ask for a new media clip. The new media clip will be added to the end of the previous file.

Here you can edit both video and photo.

Add Color Clip

The color clip allows you to attach colorful effects to your video objects. Adding it is really simple and convenient.

Click Add Color Clip, then the color clip will be added to the end of the video you are editing.

Click on Edit Color to change the color of the color clip. By default, the duration of the color clip is 3 seconds. You need to move the blue circle to adjust the duration.

The Duplicate option supports adding another color clip to the end of the video while the Delete option will remove the color clip you added.

Split the Video

Click and choose the video in the timeline; then, drag the Playhead to the positions where you want to split.

And after you tap on the video, you’ll be able to use Split option in the bottom panel.

Note: Before any editing, you must click to select the video in the timeline, or the feature buttons below will be grayed out and cannot be used.

Trim the Video

Right next to the Split button, the Trim option will help cut the video and adjust the length of the video as you wish.

Just click on the Trim button. Then a window will pop up for you to configure the duration of your video. So, you need to move the indicator on the timeline to set the Start and the End of the target video.

Furthermore, you can edit the playback speed and the volume of the video by clicking on the Speed, Volume buttons.

Also, adding effects to the clip can be easily completed by hitting the Effect option.

Adjust Video Speed

By clicking Speed button, you are allowed to adjust the playback speed of the video. Speed up/slow down the playback of a video by dragging the circle icon to the right/left.

Also, you can adjust the video volume by clicking the Volume button.

Adjust Volume of the Video

By clicking Volume, you will enter the interface for adjusting volume. The default volume for videos is 100%. You are allowed to turn down the volume, and set up Fade In or Fade Out duration.

Also, you can trim the video, change the playback speed of the video by clicking the Trim and Speed button.

Click to select the added video clip in the timeline and click Effect. There are 28 effects in total at your disposal. Select the one you like and click the back arrow to apply the effect.

You can press and release the Compare button to view the difference between before and after the addition of the effect.

Also, you can alter the video playback speed, volume by clicking on the Speed, Volume buttons, and trim the video by clicking on the Trim button. The Transform option provides video scaling and rotating functionality.

Crop the Video

Click to select the video in the timeline and click Crop & Motion. With the Crop & Motion function, you are able to crop the video into any size you want.

You can either select the Ratio or customize the video’s width and height. Besides, you are allowed to drag the four corners of the video frame to modify the size of the video. When the cropping process completes, click OK to apply the change to the video.

Note: 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 9:16 are available default video ratios form Ratio option.

From the Crop video working place, click Motion from the upper side. There are a total of 4 video motions: Zoom In; Zoom Out; Pan Right; Pan Left. Select the motion you like. This function will empower your video with a better sense of depth.

Transform the Video

The Transform function enables you to scale your video into any size and rotate the video to any angle. First, click to select the video in the timeline and click Transform.

Then, you can either drag the Scale bar to adjust the size of the video or enter the X and Y values respectively.

Besides, you can drag the Rotate bar to spin the video 360 degrees around the center of the frame.

Rotate Video

Click on the Rotate button from the toolbar to change the direction of the video. The video frame will be rotated by 90 degrees for each click on the Rotate button.

Flip the Video

Besides the Rotate function, FilmForth supports users to flip the video horizontally. Click to select a video clip in the timeline and click Flip from the bottom operation panel. Then you can flip the video horizontally.

Note: With the “Rotate Video” widget from the Quick Tools section in FilmForth home screen, users can quickly access the Flip Video function to flip their videos horizontally.

Freeze Frame

Setting a freeze-frame for a video makes your videos seem more creative, attractive, and impressive. You can click on the Freeze Frame button at the end of the Edit toolbar to add a  freeze-frame into the timeline of the video you are editing.

The duration of the freeze-frame is 3 seconds by default.

You can change the duration of the freeze-frame by selecting freeze-frame in the timeline and clicking the Duration button.

Add special effects to the freeze-frame by clicking the Effect button.

Also, you can crop and change the motion of the video via using the Crop and Motion buttons.

Transform, Rotate and Flip buttons support changing the direction of the video as you need.

To double or delete the freeze-frame, you can tap the Duplicate/Delete buttons.
